Bio:I figured it was about time I wrote an actual 'bio' up here, so here it goes (one day I'll get around to actually finishing it...and maybe making it sound a little less pretentious).

I don't use MySpace. MySpace is owned by Rupert Murdoch, Rupert Murdoch is an evil fascist bastard, therefore I don't use MySpace. You can tell I've studied logic, can't you?

On that note, I find Robert Anton Wilson's statement that "I try to think logically and because of that most people think I'm crazy" to be so very, very true.

I believe that most politics misses the point. I agree with Tom Robbins when he says that:
It is futile to work for political solutions to humanity's problems because humanity's problems are not political. Political problems do exist, all right, but they are entirely secondary. The primary problems are philosophical, and until the philosophical problems are solved, the political problems will have to be solved over and over and over again. The phrase 'vicious circle' was coined to describe the ephemeral effectiveness of almost all political activity.

Anybody doubting the innate stupidity of their fellow person should spend a few days browsing Internet forums. Addressing this stupidity should be the primary goal of anybody desiring a better world for, as Robert Anton Wilson has said, "There is nothing rationally desirable that cannot be achieved sooner if rationality itself increases...Work to achieve Intelligence Intensification is work to achieve all our other sane and worthwhile goals."

I tend to be a pessimistic optimist, or maybe an optimistic pessimist. I think that the world as we know it is pretty fucked and humanity's days may well be numbered. George Monbiot's statement that "Given a choice between a new set of matching tableware and the survival of humanity, I suspect that most people would choose the tableware" seems too true for civilisation to have any great chance of surviving past this century.

That's the pessimism. The optimism is that life is beautiful and I'm determined to ring every bit of joy I can get from it, while doing what I can to encourage a change in direction. After all, maybe the horse will learn to sing.

I consider myself to be amoral. Morality I see as adherence to a set of rules laid down by god, priesthood, parents, society, whomever. One can learn from others of course, but accepting anybody's word as law seems a major error and so I live my life according to my own ethical principles, which are subject to change in the light of experience and reasoning.

Up until the age of 15 I had little to no knowledge of or interest in music. Then I heard Space Oddity on the radio, and fell in love with the song and with music in general. There has remained a special place in my heart reserved for David Bowie ever since.

I have the curiosity of a four-year old. While I'm sure that it's going to kill me one day, I figure that's as good a way to go as any and I regard my curiosity as a strength rather than a weakness. People tell me that curiosity killed the cat, but nobody ever knows what it does to the Englishman and I'm pretty curious to find out.

I'm not satisfied with simply dismissing ignorance of a subject with "it's not important." God is in the details... Unfortunately this does make me very intolerant of plot holes in fiction. The whole way through City of God I was bemused by Lil Dice being able to kill a whole hotel full of people when he only had six bullets. What did he do, ask them to put their heads together in a line?
